Doctora (PhD) de la Universidad de Cambridge, Inglaterra, donde también realizó su magíster. Obtuvo su pregrado de ciencias políticas en la Universidad de Stanford, Estados Unidos. Ha sido becada por las fundaciones Truman, Fulbright y Gates.

Sus áreas de investigación son políticas públicas y relaciones internacionales. Temas específicos de su interés incluyen política económica, globalización, sistemas de salud, propiedad intelectual y políticas de innovación. La profesora Sweet ha ganado financiamiento por parte de la ANRS y ha realizado investigación para el Banco Mundial y la UN-Comisión Económica Para América Latina (CEPAL).

Durante el año 2011 la profesora Sweet organizó “Diálogos”, una iniciativa de la Facultad de Historia, Geografía y Ciencia Política que reunió a líderes del ambiente académico, público y ciudadano para reflexionar y proponer respuestas a la crisis educacional.
