Doctora (Ph. D.) en Ciencia Política, University of Washington, Seattle (EE.UU.), y Master of Arts en Ciencia Política, McGill University, Montreal (Canadá). Antes de incorporarse al Instituto, fue Max Weber Post-Doctoral fellow en European University Institute, Italia y Profesora Asistente en Bogazici University, Turquía. Fue George C. Lamb Regulatory Fellow en Kenan Institute for Ethics en Duke University en 2015 y profesora visitante en Bogazici University en 2019-2020. Sus áreas de especialización incluyen Relaciones Internacionales y Economía Política Internacional.

Su trabajo se enfoca en la relación entre el Estado y los mercados en los países emergentes. Sus investigaciones recientes se centran en cómo las organizaciones y normas internacionales impactan en las políticas domésticas, en particular, las políticas de competencia, anticorrupción y regulación económica. Actualmente es investigadora principal del proyecto  FONDECYT Regular (2020-2022) titulado “International Norms and Domestic Reforms: Anti-Corruption Policies in Chile and Peru”.

Umut Aydin has a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Washington, Seattle, and MA in Political Science from McGill University, Canada. Before joining the Institute, she was a Max Weber Post-Doctoral fellow at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, and assistant Professor of Political Science in Bogazici University, Turkey. She was a George C. Lamb Regulatory Fellow at the Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University in 2015, and visiting professor at Bogazici University in 2019-2020. Her areas of specialization are International Relations and International Political Economy.

Her work focuses on the relation between the state and markets in emerging economies. Her recent projects have focused on how international organizations and norms influence domestic politics and policies, in particular, their competition and regulatory policies and anti-corruption efforts. She is currently the principal investigator of the project FONDECYT Regular (2020-2022) titled “International Norms and Domestic Reforms: Anti-Corruption Policies in Chile and Peru”.

She is a member of Red de Politólogas.
